Trying my hand at publishing

This is an idea I’ve been floating around in my head for a few years now. I’ve got a lot of ideas for short stories, and I want to try out publishing them through Kindle Direct Publishing. I’ve done some research on it, and I’m going to go for it.
So far I have 1 short story done, with two more in the works. I’ve bought a few short story anthologies in the past, and I think they’ve generally been around 5 stories. This is my dilemma at this point (besides getting the 2 stories finished up): how long does my collection have to be? I know there isn’t really a minimum, but what are people willing to pay for?
The minimum price I can charge on Amazon is 99 cents, but I want to have enough content that people think it is worth it.
What do you all think? Is it more about length or about content? I feel like what I’ve got is pretty decent. Maybe not groundbreaking, but it’s not garbage.
